Sewall-Scripture House (Sandy Bay Historical Society)

The 1832 Sewall-Scripture House, home of the Sandy Bay Historical Society, is open seasonally to the public. The Museum in this The Federal style building is filled with exhibits, furnishings, artwork, and other artifacts representing domestic life in the 1830s, when it was built. Visitors can tour such old-fashioned residential features as a Victorian Parlor and a Keeping Room, viewing along the way such treasures as a vintage parlor organ, and paintings by notable Cape Ann artists Fitz Henry Lane, Aldro Hibbard, and Alfred Wiggin.
